A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF SUBLETTE, KANSAS FROM A PORTION OF K.S.A. 15-209 RELATING TO QUALIFICATIONS OF CERTAIN APPOINTED PERSONNEL.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SUBLETTE, KANSAS:

Section 1. The City of Sublette, Kansas, by the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5, of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to exempt itself from and make inapplicable to a portion of K.S.A. 15-209 regarding the requirement that City Officers be qualified electors of said City for certain appointed positions.

Section 2. The appointed City Officers of the City of Sublette, Kansas need not be qualified electors of the City of Sublette, Kansas and may reside outside of the city limits but shall reside in Haskell County, Kansas.

Section 3. Section 2 of this Charter Ordinance shall not be applied to the appointments of  the city attorney, municipal judge, and any law enforcement officers when deemed necessary. Qualifications for these positions shall continue to be governed as set out in K.S.A. 15-209.
